In the casting side of things, a report from TVLine said that though it is hardly possible that fans will see the return of Natalie Dormer's character, Moriarty, her presence will still be felt with this newcomer.

As detailed by the media outlet, Scottish actor Tony Curran has been cast as Joshua Vikner, "an economics professor who has more than an academic interest in the villainess."

The publication added that both Sherlock and Morland will hear so many things from the professor. Not only that, Vikner will have a big role to play in the father and son's future.

The actor, whose TV credits include "Daredevil" and "Sons of Anarchy," will make his debut on the show's 23rd episode, titled "The Invisible Hand," which airs this May 1.

For the meantime, Episode 21, "Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing" premieres this Sunday, Apr. 17 at 10 p.m. on CBS.
