'Elementary' Season 4 Spoilers: Will Sherlock's Mother Be Featured?

Fans can expect to see new characters in the upcoming season of hit series "Elementary."

The previous season of "Elementary" introduced a character named Morland, played by John Noble, who is the father of Sherlock, played by Johnny Lee Miller. It was reported that Sherlock's father was on his way to New York after hearing that his son had a relapse.

With that, there are speculations that the new season will be bringing in Sherlock's mother as well. According to Zap2it, the executive producer of the series Rob Doherty was asked whether fans will be able to see the mother for "Elementary" season 4. However, he did not deny nor confirm the matter.

Meanwhile, he did share some details about Sherlock's relationship with his mother. Doherty said, "I feel like we have an obligation at some point this season to flesh out that story and explain why she is not featured on the show alongside Mr. Holmes. I think that would be a matter of ... I can't say a matter of time [laughs] ... it's a story we need to tell. We need to find the right moment. I think mom is a big reason why Sherlock and his father have struggled to the degree that they have, struggled as father and son."

A character that is confirmed to make an appearance in the upcoming season was Mycroft Holmes. Doherty explained during the New York Comic-Con that they were enthusiastic to bring the character back. His return is expected to show the relationship between father and sons.

Doherty added, "I would love to see the three Holmes men together. In particular, it would be great to have Mycroft back because it doesn't just present stories and complications for Sherlock and Morland, of course."

"Elementary" is expected to release on Nov. 19.
