'Elementary' Season 5 Episode 14: Joan Does Shinwell Another Favor

Joan (Lucy Liu) will once again come to Shinwell's (Nelsan Ellis) aid in the upcoming episode of "Elementary."

In the episode titled "Rekt in Real Life," the synopsis (via TV Guide) reveals that the ex-convict will ask for Joan's help in reconnecting with his teenage daughter. The kid has apparently expressed her wish to meet with the father she has never known. Shinwell is in a big dilemma because he never thought such a day would come. Aside from his criminal record, viewers of the series know very little of his past. The fact that he has a child will come as a surprise, even to Joan and Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller).

A teaser from Entertainment Weekly reveals that the upcoming episode will disclose Shinwell's backstory. A major revelation will reportedly cause a rift between him and his friends. Sherlock and Joan have done everything they can to help Shinwell get back on his feet after his incarceration. When he was being accused of murder, Sherlock even meddled with the evidence so the ex-con would not be thrown back in jail. It was Joan who convinced her partner that Shinwell deserved another chance. The new revelation, however, will make them question if they did the right thing for him.
