'Elementary' Season 6 Spoilers: Joan to Quit Consultant Work to Focus on Sherlock's Recovery?
Joan (Lucy Liu) will not be able to resist Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller) for long in the upcoming season of "Elementary."
Although the doctor will still feel disappointed over her partner's actions in the last installment, she will help him the best she could. Joan and Sherlock's relationship took a hit when he snubbed Shinwell's (Nelsan Ellis) funeral. The consultant also refused to tell her about the doctor's diagnosis that he might have a brain tumor.
Executive producer Rob Doherty has said that Sherlock would soon share his fears with Joan, but there might be complications. She will probably feel bad that it took him so long before he opened up to her.
"He will indeed. He knows by now that problems like these are best addressed with help from friends. The question will be, has he waited too long to confide in her?" the EP teased.
It has been speculated that Sherlock may take some time off from his work in the New York City PD to deal with his problems. If he really has a brain tumor, he will need to prepare for surgery. It will be interesting to see if Joan will also temporarily leave the consultant work to focus on taking care of Sherlock. As his personal doctor, she will likely want to supervise his recovery. Taking care of Sherlock will require most of her time, and even though she enjoys the cases assigned to them, it will not be the same without her partner.
Meanwhile, viewers will get to meet a new face in season 6. Desmond Harrington has been tapped to play the role of Michael, an old acquaintance of Sherlock who will help him on his road to recovery. They met when they were both attending AA meetings. Michael was reportedly inspired by Sherlock's words to make his life better. He has been wanting to return the favor for a while now.
"Elementary" season 6 is rumored to air in 2018.
