'Emerald City' Season 1 Episode 9 Spoilers: Will Jack Lose His Heart in the Impending War Between Good and Evil?
For someone with a clockwork heart, Jack (Gerran Howell) still tends to feel emotions in their truest, rawest sense. But when Queen Langwidere (Stefanie Martini) made him a free man to prove a point, the tin man might just find himself in a dilemma for the first time in his life.
In the previous episode of NBC's fantasy series "Emerald City," Langwidere freed Jack to prove to him that the only way any person could love another was to own him — that once ownership was terminated, it also took away any reason for the other person to stay. And as if out of relief or spite, Jack decided to leave, only to get caught in the middle of a standoff between the kingdom's guards and the Wizard of Oz (Vincent D'Onofrio).
The penultimate episode of the season titled "The Villain That Became" sees Jack making a decision that could once again threaten his life. Will he keep walking away despite seeing firsthand the sign of an impending war? Or will he choose to stay by the Queen's side as an ally, and thus disprove her perception about love? Has he really fallen for Langwidere, or has his freedom brought back the old and complicated feelings he has for Tip?

The official promo for the next episode also teases the end of another love affair. Lucas (Oliver Jackson-Cohen), who turned out to be Glinda's (Joely Richardson) husband Rowan, has a part in him that wishes to go back to how they were before he lost his memory and met Dorothy (Adria Arjona). His wife told him that the only way he could free his heart was to kill the interloper from Kansas.
Lucas will do as he is told, but while strangling Dorothy in one climactic scene, he begs her to stop him. Is Lucas under one of Glinda's spells again? Or is the internal struggle between what he wants and what he thinks is right so strong that he cannot make the decision himself?
Elsewhere, West (Ana Ularu) and the newly resurrected Tip will strengthen their bond and might just start a war on their own.
Also, will Eamonn (Mido Hamada), the cowardly soldier in a lion helmet who spared the princess' life, finally find the courage to stand against The Wizard's oppressive rule?
