'Empire' Season 2 Cast News, Update: Newcomer Becky G Teases "A Lot Of Drama" On Her Valentina
The upcoming second season of Fox's hit TV drama series "Empire" is stacking up with lots of popular names in the entertainment business for a number of guesting spots. Earlier reports may have already revealed Chris Rock, Ludacris, Lenny Kravitz, Kelly Rowland, Pitbull, Alicia Keys, and several more others coming over to the show. But one celebrity's star is about to get even brighter this season.
Those who are quite a bit unfamiliar with the musical influence of Becky G will get to know more of her talents, this time in the side of acting, when the show returns on air.
For those who missed the earlier casting reports, the "Shower" performer will be on the Fox drama for the guest role of Valentina. Albeit short, the 18-year-old expresses enthusiasm for the small screen opportunity that comes her way.
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the singer-songwriter told the media outlet that the part "was so fun for me to play." The reason behind it is that she loves acting.
"I felt in my gut that it was right and I just wanted to go for it. Then I showed up to set, met the cast, and learned so much from them. It's going to be really fun to see myself in a different light," she told the publication (via EW).
The Inglewood, California-born teenager appeared to already have the rapport with the cast members when she further told EW that she was often being called "baby Cookie" on set. Perhaps it's the role of Valentina that earned her the moniker as she revealed that the character would be a total departure from her "sweet and excited" real-life persona to the "feisty" role Taraji P. Henson played in the hit series.
Furthermore, the YouTube personality teases about the heap of drama coming along with her character.
"…I was reading in the script — I was like, "I can't believe this is going to go down. Everybody's going to be so surprised." But yeah, especially my scenes, for sure," she said (via EW).
"Empire" Season 2 premieres Sept. 23 at 9 p.m. on Fox.
