'Empire' season 2 spoilers: Family feud to happen in next season

Fox's new music-driven series "Empire" has just concluded its freshman run and is now headed to a brand-new season. The show is rating gold for the network as it attracts a lot of viewers and boasts some very notable guest stars.

The upcoming season will introduce a new character named Betty Barz, a sulky, blunt teenage rapper who will be introduced in the premiere titled "The Devils Are Here." Her character is described as African-American, a butch, a hometown hero with some deep fears that will lead to her self-sabotage.

In the forthcoming season, there will be a ton of notable guest stars as popular artists line up for a spot in the sensational series. Reverend Al Sharpton and fashion guru Andre Leon Tally will appear in the first episode, as they will be a part of the "Free Lucious" concert. Other guest stars are Marisa Tomei, Mariah Carey, Pitbull, Chris Rock, Lenny Kravitz, Alicia Keys, Kelly Rowland, Ludacris, Adam Rodriguez, Andre Royo, and Tyra Ferell. Unfortunately, there will be no Oprah next season. Actresses Gabourey Sidibe and Ta'Rhonda Jones who play the lackeys Betty and Porsha, respectively, have been promoted to series regulars.

The new season will have some interesting things that fans should watch out for. Fox has landed a new deal with Pepsi, and the network will crown Fox's Next Empire Artist on Sept. 16, who will appear on the show.

There will be a time jump from the end of the first season as Lucious (Terrance Howard) is seen in a prison jumpsuit causing trouble. The Lyon family will definitely have their feuds as Andre (Tai Byers) tries to get his father out as CEO and will be battling his mother and his father's ex-fiancé Anika Calhoun (Grace Gealey) for the Empire.

This coming season, fans will get to see a new battle as Cookie and Jamal go up against each other, which will put a huge gap in their relationship. Fans will also get to see a much darker side of Jamal next season as what the fans saw in the finale of the last season was just the beginning. It looks like Empire is gearing up for another epic season.

Empire will return on Sept. 23.
