'Empire' Season 2 Spoilers: Will Rhonda Survive?

The executive producer of the series "Empire" shared some hints about a character's return after the show's winter hiatus.

The end of the midseason finale showed Rhonda, played by Kaitlin Doubleday, unconscious at the bottom of the stairs. She was seen being pushed down the stairs. While fans have been worried that the character will be written off the show, showrunner Ilene Chaiken shared her sentiments about the character.

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Chaiken also hoped the character will survive the tragic fall. With that, she also shared some hints on how the story arc for the upcoming return of the season would be like. Chaiken stated, "We hope Rhonda survives! And, depending on the outcome of both those things, how will Rhonda and Andre repair themselves? That is going to be a big part of the story for the second half of the season!"

Doubleday's character is known to be pregnant with Andre's (Trai Byers) child. While the fate of her baby is still in question due to the fall, Rhonda's return could spark more issues for the couple. Chaiken added, "Rhonda and Andre are figuring out whether this was an accident, a cruel twist of fate, whether it was something that God meant to happen or that somebody did to them for some other nefarious reason is going to be a very big story for us."

There are speculations that she was pushed by Anika, played by Grace Gealey. However, Chaiken was quick to address the rumors. She explained that they have yet to reveal the face of who did it, but they did give her the motive.

Since the rest of the family is still unaware of Rhonda's accident, Chaiken also added that the upcoming episodes will reveal her situation through the perspective of the other characters.
