'Empire' Season 4 Spoilers: Cookie Holds a Label-Wide Competition Ahead of 20-For-20
The upcoming episode of "Empire" season 4 will see the record label's top artists battling it out for the number one album.
The synopsis of the next episode, titled "Bleeding War," states that Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) will organize a competition among the label's top artists. Empire's 20-For-20 event is going to take place soon, and only one artist can have the number one album. In order to decide who that is exactly, Cookie will pit everyone against each other for the title.
With the competition in place, Jamal (Jussie Smollett) will come up with a daring idea for a new song that may put him above the rest. However, it remains to be seen whether his efforts will bear fruits.
Meanwhile, Bella is going to turn one and the Lyons will hold a special birthday party for her. With the theme of "Prince and Princesses," the party will also consist of a Prince tribute. However, things will not go according to plan when one of the family members recalls memories from their past during the special day.
Finally, Lucious (Terrence Howard) will find himself with a decision to make as he does his best to put the past behind him.
A teaser trailer for the new episode has also been released. It opens with Cookie holding a meeting with all of the label's top artists as she tells them how everything is about to go down. Naturally, not all of the artists are on board with the idea. The trailer then gives brief glimpses of impressive performances as Cookie holds auditions.
Cookie has always been a feisty person, even when she was in prison. Henson told Variety in an interview that her life behind bars will be explored more this current season.
"You're really going to see her in prison," she teased. "You'll see who her friends were in prison, who she hung out with, how she acclimated herself. She's a fighter, and you'll see how she fought in prison, and how she kept her sanity. Seeing her in jail [shows] new ways of her strength. She's a tough cookie, period, in jail or out. That's just who she is. She speaks her truth, she lives her truth, and she's unapologetic. That's who she is."
"Empire" season 4 airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on FOX.
