Estrella Carrera, Slain Bride, Husband Traced to Mexican Border
Arnolodo Jimenez has been charged with first degree murder as police continue a massive man hunt, the last lead which has led officials to Texas.
Arnoldo Jimenez and Estrella Carrera were secretly married last Friday. Carrera later invited friends and family to celebrate with her that night, although she was hesitant to inform them that she had just wed the 30-year-old father of her 2-year-old son.
Carrera's body was found Sunday in the sparking silver dress that she had worn to the ceremony. The 26-year-old woman had been stabbed to death.
Jimenez was later ruled as the leading suspect in the case. Police believed a domestic dispute had broken out after Jimenez discovered that Carrera had told her father about the marriage. Carrera had reportedly been instructed to keep the event a secret.
Jimenez's sister later reported that she had received a phone call from her brother on the same day, in which he said he had left Carrera behind in the apartment, bloodied after a "bad fight" according to the Associated Press.
Authorities now believe that Jimenez traveled to Texas and may be heading to the Mexican border.
"The FBI on Thursday night declared the search for Jimenez an international manhunt," the Chicago Tribune reported, revealing the Jimenez's phone had been traced to Hidalgo, Texas on Sunday night only hours after Carrera's body was found.
"The cellphone belonging to Jimenez, 30, was last used in the Chicago area Saturday, according to the court documents. It was used again through southern Illinois, near Memphis, Tenn., through Arkansas and then into Texas, records show," the Tribune confirmed.
Jimenez was born in Texas and both of his parents live in Mexico. Hidalgo is located directly on the Texas-Mexico border.
Police have pleaded with Jimenez, "for the sake of his family and especially his children," Captain Joseph Ford of the Burbank Police Department told the AP. "I am sure they are very concerned for his well-being."
Ford also revealed the Jimenez had been previously arrested for another, non-related incident concerning domestic violence in another city.
