Exact Release Date for Switch Edition of 'DOOM' May Already Be Known

A new retailer listing includes an exact release date for the Switch edition of 'DOOM'

One of the more surprising reveals to come from last week's Nintendo Direct is that the 2016 edition of the game known as "DOOM" is coming to the Switch. The game drew rave reviews as it dazzled gamers on the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and there are high hopes for it now as it heads to the Switch.

Now, a new retailer listing is pointing to exactly when Switch owners may expect to start enjoying the aforementioned game.

According to this listing posted by Kuma.cz, the new Switch title is apparently due out on Dec. 13.

Thus far, the only thing developers have confirmed when it comes to a release date is that the game will be made available sometime during this holiday season. Dec. 13 certainly fits well enough into that release window to be a believable date of arrival for the Switch edition of "DOOM," but with confirmation still lacking, fans are going to want to stay tuned for a while longer.

Once this fast-paced, first-person shooter hits the Switch, fans can expect it to provide a campaign mode that calls on them to eliminate countless entities of evil using only the best and most powerful weapons, according to this listing on Nintendo.com.

Aside from the campaign mode, Switch owners can also look forward to trying out multiplayer together with other fans.

Notably, the Switch version of "DOOM" is expected to be different from its counterparts on other consoles in at least some ways.

Speaking recently to US Gamer, a representative from Bethesda shared that the version of the game that will be released for the Switch is "custom-built for the hardware." The Switch version is not expected to be on the same level with the ones available on other platforms, though the Bethesda rep did indicate that it will still provide "the amazing DOOM look and feel."

More news about the Switch edition of "DOOM" should be made available in the near future.
