Intense temperatures in the 90s will continue to prevail in Washington D.C. until Wednesday. Excessive heat warning from noon to 8:00 p.m. will remain to take effect.

The extreme temperature in Washington D.C. will cool down starting Monday; however, the heat index could still hit 110 degrees during the afternoon hours. The nation's capital will continue to see intense temperatures in the 90s until Wednesday.

According to AccuWeather.com, Monday will be hot and humid in Washington, D.C. with a temperature of 93 degrees. There is also a 60-percent chance of a rain shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon.
Moreover, on Tuesday, the temperature of the nation's capital will hit 96 degrees. The weather will be humid with intervals of clouds and sunshine. The chances of a shower or a thunderstorm are at 60 percent.
Washington, D.C. will continue to feel the intense heat on Wednesday with a projected temperature of 92 degrees. The day will be cloudy and hot with 40 percent chances of a shower or thunderstorm.
The National Weather Service (NWS) also rendered the same weather forecast for the next three days. The government agency projected that high temperatures will continue to prevail in Washington D.C. with temperatures reaching as high as 95 degrees.
The heat is expected to cool down starting Thursday as the cold front starts to squash the heat southward into the mid-Atlantic region beginning Tuesday, The Washington Post reports. In exchange of the excessive heat, the cold front could bring severe thunderstorms in the coming days.
Excessive Heat Alerts
On Saturday, per Weather.com, the temperature of Washington, D.C. hit a daily record high of 101 degrees, which intensified to 114 degrees in the afternoon. This tied the daily record set in the capital in 1881 and the highest temperature since 2005. On Sunday, the sizzling temperature reached 100 degrees and maxed out at only 107 degrees due to the slight lower humidity.
To address the record-breaking temperatures, NWS has already issued several heat alerts. These include excessive heat warnings and heat advisories.
The government agency has also published several heat safety tips. It advised workers who are in the job sites to stay hydrated and take breaks from the exposure of the sun from time to time.
NWS also advised residents to limit strenuous outdoor activities, stay hydrated and get rid from the heat of the sun as much as possible. It also instructed not to leave kids or pets in vehicles, and regularly check the elderly and sick people who are staying indoors.
