Facebook Tries Out Messenger Dislike Button

The Facebook dislike button is one of those features that users love to bring up every now and then. While the social media giant will probably never get around to coming up with a way to dislike posts that will work well with the company's vision, Facebook still comes up with opportunities to try having a broader spectrum of reactions in its platform. Recently, the social platform did just that with its test run of Messenger Reactions, with an option to dislike included among the usual bevy of reaction options.

It's not a dislike button per se, so for users expecting a way to express the opposite of the "like" that Facebook is built on, they still have more waiting to do. Tech crunch has been tipped off that a select number of users are seeing the new feature that Facebook has cooked up: per message reaction options on the Facebook Messenger.

The social media company has confirmed that they are testing this new engagement tool for the built-in messaging platform.  "We're always testing ways to make Messenger more fun and engaging. This is a small test where we enable people to share an emoji that best represents their feelings on a message," according to Facebook.

A large part of Facebook users will not have access to it right now, but if the testing being done by the company would yield good results, it could be a feature worth looking forward to for those who rely on the Messenger app.

The "dislike" option is more of a "no" button, according to the company. While it remains ambiguous enough to work as a "dislike" button as well as a more generic no, or "decline" button, the company is looking for ways on which the new reactions can speed up yes/no voting or approve versus disapprove decisions.
