'Falling Skies' Season 5 News, Spoilers: Tom Acquires A Powerful Weapon; Season Finale Teases Great Loss

TNT's hit action drama TV series "Falling Skies" is now edging closer towards the end of its Season 5. This week's penultimate episode titled "Reunion" speaks about Tom getting a new weapon. Meanwhile, spoilers for the series finale surfaced.

According to the official synopsis posted right over at the Futon Critic, Ben will be putting his life on the frontline in order to gain a substantial amount of intel about the enemy's plans.

It remains to be seen if his fate dictates for him to come out alive from the dangerous undertaking and if he is able to tell the others about what he learned about the foes. There could also be a possibility that he won't be able to make it out in one piece.

Meanwhile, the episode will also find Pope finally discovering that Tom is alive after all. This will prompt Pope to launch a massive, final attack.

But Tom won't come unprepared. The summary says that the 2nd Mass sergeant will get hold of a "powerful new weapon" that he will use against the Espheni. However, an unexpected visitor will force the 2nd Mass to "reassess their situation."

Following this action-packed segment, followers of the show will get to see the show's series finale which RealtyToday.com said will see the final standoff between the Masons and the 2nd Mass.

Citing the synopsis for the finale episode, it is indicated that the faceoff will bring the opposing forces "into the bowels of an iconic American location, wrought with new and unpredictable obstacles."

The episode, which is expected to bring "great loss" on both sides, will also see the perseverance of the human race to "once and for all reclaim Earth and humanity."

Catch more of this intense development when "Falling Skies" Season 5 Episode 9 airs this Sunday, August 23. Episode 10, on the other hand, will come out next week, August 30, on TNT.
