'Fallout 4' Release Date News: At Gamescom 2015 - Footage Shows Off Character Customization
The role-playing game "Fallout 4" is coming to the Xbox One, the PS4 and PC on Nov. 10. Those who attended Gamescom 2015 had a chance to watch a gameplay demo by Bethesda and although video recording was prohibited, that did not stop a certain fan from doing so and sharing the video later on.
According to a Tech Times report, the leaked footage was able to shed some light on how character customization will be done in the upcoming game. Despite the limited views during the demo because it was after all a clandestine recording, it managed to show players how they can access the different perks available. This was done, as the report said, quite uniquely using an animated Vault Boy demonstrating each perk as a player highlights it. Perks are unique to the game series, and "Fallout 4" is said to have 270 perks in an improved system.
Bethesda revealed that a "new perks system" will be in place, which will "allow for wider options on the characters that players can use and develop" in the game. At the start of a campaign, players can choose all the "specials for a character," and whenever a new level is reached, new perks will be available.
Given the different choices of perks players can make, character progression will definitely vary from player to player, which will give the game a lot of variety.
In the leaked video, some mini-games were also featured and these included those that involved survival tactics such as lockpicking and hacking. According to the report, the systems used here were the same as the ones used in older versions of "Fallout." After the mini-games, the demo also showed the use of different types of weaponry available in Wasteland, such as the laser rifle and the laser musket.
Other details about the game that Bethesda revealed during Gamescom included the fact that "Fallout 4" will have no level cap, therefore giving players more time to explore and play and lastly, the fact that after the main story mission is finished, players can still continue their adventure in Wasteland.
