'Fallout 4' Far Harbor Update for PS4 Review: Revised Expansion Brings Necessary Fixes to Open-World Adventure Game
Gamers Asked to Delete Initially Released Expansion and Download Update
Poor performance marred the release of "Fallout 4's" Far Harbor DLC with players complaining about the game's slow response but a recent update fixes all these issues.
The main issue for players with the Far Harbor DLC was the game getting stuck at 20fps with frame rates even fluctuating down to 15fps, Eurogamer said. To resolve this, video game publisher Bethesda thought of an updated version of the DLC.
Gamers can say goodbye to the slow-responding DLC by deleting the expansion they previously downloaded and replacing it with the updated one. Once the update is installed, the PS4 game will not anymore encounter issues with the frame rates and can play the game without delays.
However, Venture Beat noted that the update has only been release for players in North America and Europe. Bethesda is still not sure when this will roll out in other countries so gamers in these areas should just wait for updates though the video game publisher's Twitter account.
Initially released last month, Far Harbor was considered the most expensive DLC for "Fallout 4" pegged at $25, GottaBeMobile added. Other upcoming DLCs, like the Automatron and Wasteland Workshop, cost around $5 to $10.
Gamers also expressed dismay that there were only very few deals for the game with only Green Gaming offering a 20 percent promo code. This discount, however, only applies for those buying the game for their personal computers.
The hefty price of the new DLC is said to be worth every player's money because of what it offers "Fallout 4." Bethesda executive producer Todd Howard said in a GameRant report that this is their biggest DLC offering.
"In this first run [of DLC], Far Harbor is the largest," Howard noted. "But, we kind of priced that based on what we've done before so you can look at Far Harbor and say 'Well, even though the land mass is bigger, it doesn't have as much content as Shivering Isles -- which was $30 -- but it has more than Dawnguard, which was $20.'"
Though it is considered the biggest DLC for "Fallout 4" GameRant warned that it brings little content compared to the offering of the Shivering Isles expansion for The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion during its prime.
Players are also expecting some improvements on the new game DLC when the Automatron and Wasteland Workshop expansions come next week and next month, respectively. Bethesda may still introduce some notable changes for the coming DLCs.
