Family Force 5 Announces 'Tank Top' Contest with Cash Prizes

Pioneers of crunkcore, Family Force 5, have created a contest to reward their fans – the opportunity to remix their new song "Tank Top" off of "III", and win cash and prizes.

According to the registration site, Indaba (http://www.indabamusic.com/opportunities/family-force-5-remix-contest), these are the prizes:

1 Grand Prize Winner
The Grand Prize Winner, as selected by the Judges from all of the submissions, will:
• Receive $1,000
• Receive a feature on Family Force 5's official website and Facebook page
• Receive a merch prize pack including a signed CD, T-shirt, and a Family Force 5 "Bling Ring"

10 Honorable Mentions
The 10 Honorable Mentions, as decided by the Judges from the 20 most popular mixes, will:
• Receive a CD signed by the band

Other promotions are offered to fans that arrive early to concerts. Currently on the "It's All Gold" tour, the contest is called "The Gold Karaoke Challenge" and will see fans place their names into a gold disco ball. A random drawing selects five fans to perform one song on stage with the 808'ers who are a production team that collaborated with FF5 on the new album.

The best singer of that bunch will get to perform one song with FF5 on stage when they play "Love Addict."

Family Force 5's music is a fusion of the beats and sounds of southern rock mixed with almost hip-hop/rapped vocals over trippy 808s and heavy guitar riffs.

The rapper described the bands unique sound as, "Fun party inspired rock. Some think it has to do with synthesizers. I guess so...we have plenty of 808 beats too." He goes on to explain crunk rock as being "very southern."

"It's what we are. We kind of just fell into it. We are from Atlanta, it's very southern. We have that rock vibe, and that super ghetto vibe. It's a blend of everything."

FF5 released “III” on Oct. 18 and in promotion have embarked on their It's All Gold Tour followed by a short Christmas tour. In January and February they will be heading back to the studio to record a few more tracks for their deluxe edition of the new album, calling the addition, “3.5.”
