Fans are asking: When will 'Kingdom Hearts III' be released?

It has been a decade since the second installment of the hit video game franchise "Kingdom Hearts" has been released on the PlayStation 2. Game players have waited too long for the series to come up with its next installment, or if there's any to be released at all. Kingdom Hearts has built a loyal fan base, and in 2013, Square Enix confirmed that the franchise's third game is now in progress.

A game trailer of "Kingdom Hearts III" has finally debuted at the 2015 E3 event held in Los Angeles last summer, where players got a look at what the game will look like with its new worlds and new Keyblade features.

According to Game Informer, the game was rumored to be released last year, but Tai Yasue, Kingdom Hearts co-director, said that it was actually "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix" that is scheduled to be released. "We were actually developing Kingdom Hearts III and 2.5 at the same time, and it's very difficult," the co-director said.

Still, news of when the game is going to be released is not yet made official. The trailer that was shown at the E3 event just mentioned, "Now in development." However, players are hoping that the announcement of the release date will be made official at the DC Expo 2015 in Tokyo, Japan this November.

In an interview with GamesRadar, game director Tetsuya Nomura has said that the game is pretty much done with its foundations. "For the most part we've established the ground foundations, like the basic systems and mechanics of what's going to go in the game. Development of that is pretty much close to complete," the game maker added.

Fans and game enthusiasts are just hoping that the game's release won't take any longer than 2017, since it's been 10 years' worth of waiting now.
