Fans loyally await for Netflix possible renewal of 'Longmire'

"Longmire" season 4 was released last Sept. 10, but fans are now asking if there will be another season for this hit drama series.

The show was originally broadcast by A&E last year, but got canceled after three seasons. According to reports, the channel axed the show since it felt that it only catered to an "older" audience than its intended target. However, the streaming website, Netflix, picked up the canceled Western crime drama series because it believes that the series can't end with a major cliff-hanger. The company brought the show back and produced the fourth season with a 10-episode series.

Longmire's story is based from the "Walt Longmire" series by the best-selling author Craig Johnson. It tells about the life of Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor) and his work as the sheriff of Absaroka County. Fans who binge-watched the fourth season saw Longmire's quest to avenge his wife from her killer. Viewers also saw the tension between the U.S. government and the Native Americans this season.

According to Carter Matt, it seems like the fourth installment of the series was filmed with a follow-up season in mind. There are still questions left unanswered and threads that are not closed in the current season. Netflix did not let fans feel that the final episode of season 4 is the series finale, so fans are feeling positive that season 5 is already in the talks.

But still, it is hard to confirm the next season of Longmire since Netflix has not yet made any official announcement about it, and the streaming company is probably still checking the show's overall performance and ratings.

What is definitely certain is that Longmire has loyal followers that have been patient enough to wait for any recent development in the series. After all, the show has already been canceled, yet viewers are still there "streaming" past Longmire episodes on Netflix.
