Fantasia Barrino Opens Up About Antwuan Cook Relationship

Fantasia Barrino, the 28-year-old singer, is opening up about her controversial relationship with her son's father, Antwuan Cook.

Barrino made media headlines when she reportedly got into a relationship with Cook while he was still legally married, according to Global Grind reports. The pair reportedly met resistance during their public courtship, including Cook's estranged wife Paula looking to sue the "American Idol" singer, according to previous TMZ reports.

However, Barrino recently revealed that she is no longer with her son's father romantically.

"Me and Antwaun, as of now, we are not together. I think it's the best thing for us all. We had to learn how to become friends again," Barrino said in the April 2013 issue of Sister 2 Sister magazine. "There was so much stuff that came out. We were all hurt along the way. There's trust issues. There's just a lot of stuff that kinda got put in the mix."

The singer admitted that she needed to learn to love herself before attempting to make other people happy.

"And I, at one point, I wanted to make everybody else happy. To love him, to make sure Zion was okay, to make sure everything- but I had to get to a place where I had to learn how to love Fantasia," she told Sister 2 Sister. "And if I don't love myself, then I can't be in a relationship."

Barrino said she felt God brought her through certain struggles for a reason.

"I always say I feel like I lost all of those things for God to put the right things in my life and I feel like I'm winning again," Barrino said in a recent interview with Philadelphia radio station WDAS FM. "Finally. And this time I know how to protect it and I know how to take care of it."
