'Far Cry 5' News, Release Date: Collector's Edition Now Available at GameStop

Fans of "Far Cry" will have to wait until February 2018 for the release of the fifth installment of the game series. Ahead of its release, Ubisoft has announced that it will make available in the U.S. a couple of Collector's Editions of the game, which will contain some exciting stuff but will probably burn a hole in fans' pockets.

According to Ubisoft, "Far Cry" fans in North America may now avail of the Resistance Edition, which they can exclusively buy from GameStop for $199.99. On the other hand, fans in the U.K. may avail of the Father Edition at a far more reasonable price of £89.99.

Both the Resistance and Father Editions will bundle a special statue placed in a collector's box, but the costlier Resistance Edition will come with a more exciting stuff inside — a 16.5" statuette of resistance member and player ally Nick Rye, who is standing tall with his assault rifle-holding pet dog, Boomer, by his side and the flag of the U.S. behind him. Other bonuses that come with the Resistance Edition are the "Far Cry" steel book, a stars-and-stripes bandana, a logo pin, and a few Hope County postcards.

Meanwhile, the Father Edition will feature a different steel book, a map, and the soundtrack of the new game. However, its figurine will be a bit smaller than the figurine in the Resistance Edition — a 12.3" statuette of Eden's Gate cult leader Joseph Seed.

Ubisoft has confirmed that the two Collector's Editions will come with a code for the Doomsday Prepper DLC, which bundles a downloadable special outfit, a van, and a handgun. Starting today, fans can already pre-order the Resistance Edition of "Far Cry 5" for $200 at GameStop.

On Feb. 27, 2018, "Far Cry 5" will officially launch on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
