'Fargo' Season 3 Updates: Ewan McGregor Leads Cast of New Season and Plays Two Different Characters
The new season of "Fargo" will be more contemporary than the previous two seasons.
Fans and followers of "Fargo" Season 3 have been waiting for some time for its premiere. Some details about the upcoming season have started to come out, somehow making the wait easier for fans. New characters and a more contemporary story await the viewers of the crime-drama comedy on its next season.
A new chief of police
Carrie Coon is set to join "Fargo" Season 3 as the new chief of police of Eden Valley, Gloria Burgle. The character is described as someone who can be expected to grab a fire extinguisher when the bacon catches fire while everyone else panics. She tries her best to adapt to a new environment where people prefer to communicate with each other through their phones, rather than talk in person.
Ewan McGregor to portray two brothers
Actor Ewan McGregor was first revealed to lead the cast of "Fargo" Season 3. He is said to even play two characters, the brothers Emmit and Ray Stussy. The elder Emmit is known as the "Parking Lot King of Minnesota".
Emmit's tale is the classic American success story, as he was able to turn himself into a real estate tycoon—with a happy family thrown in for good measure. He is also handsome to boot.
His younger brother, Ray however, became his complete opposite. He turned into a balding, big-bellied parole officer who blamed Emmit for everything that has gone wrong in his life.
How McGregor will act out the two parts should prove interesting. Playing Ray would require heavy prosthetics to hide the actor's handsome features. His brilliant acting will guide the new season of "Fargo" to the direction it wants to go, as only a seasoned actor such as he can only do.
A more modern new season
Unconfirmed reports say that "Fargo" Season 3 is more modern or contemporary than the previous two ones. However, its connection to the old characters from past seasons will not be lost.
Showrunner Noah Hawley agrees that the new season should focus on today's society, where technology is very dominant in everyone's lives. He said it can bring people together and divide them at the same time.
Hawley hinted that many of their crime stories in "Fargo" Season 3 are based on the difficulty of people to express themselves and communicate with each other. He further teased that the coming season will have certain themes that fans might want to see.
"Fargo" Season 3 is expected to be back in the spring of 2017 on FX.
