'Fast and Furious 7' Release Date Announced
It appears that "Fast and Furious 7" has a new release date following a halt in production due to the untimely death of star Paul Walker. Vin Diesel announced the new release date for the movie in a post on his Facebook page.
Diesel posted a picture of himself and Walker on set and wrote, "The last scene we filmed together… There was a unique sense of completion, of pride we shared… in the film we were now completing… the magic captured… and, in just how far we've come… Fast and Furious 7 will be released… April 10th 2015!"
Diesel added a postscript addressing fans directly.
"P.s. He'd want you to know first…" Diesel wrote.
Universal Pictures had previously stopped production following star Paul Walker's untimely death. At that time, the studio released a statement, which gave no indication of when the film's released date would be pushed back to.
"Right now, all of us at Universal are dedicated to providing support to Paul's immediate family and our extended Fast & Furious family of cast, crew and filmmakers. At this time we feel it is our responsibility to shut down production on Fast & Furious 7 for a period of time so we can assess all options available to move forward with the franchise. We are committed to keeping Fast & Furious fans informed, and we will provide further information to them when we have it. Until then, we know they join us in mourning the passing of our dear friend Paul Walker," the statement read.
The 40-year-old Walker died on Saturday in a car crash in southern California. He was returning from a charity event he organized called "Reach Out Worldwide." The event was raising money to support the Philippines typhoon relief.
The coroner said that Walker died of "combined effects of traumatic and thermal injuries" sustained in the car accident.
Walker is survived by his daughter Meadow, who is 15 years old.
