'Fast and Furious 9' news: Tyrese Gibson Calls Dwayne Johnson 'Selfish' for Prioritizing Spinoff
"Fast and Furious" star Tyrese Gibson recently called his co-star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson "selfish," allegedly because of the latter's decision to put the ninth installment of the "Fast and Furious" franchise on the back burner to prioritize the Hobbs spinoff.
According to reports, the Hobbs spinoff starring Johnson is now officially happening, pushing back "Fast and Furious 9's" release date to 2020. Johnson's decision to prioritize the spinoff over the highly anticipated next installment of "Fast and Furious" has reportedly riled Gibson. In a recent interview, the actor said that while he's not hating Johnson, he thinks that he's selfish for setting aside "Fast and Furious 9" for his own project.
During the interview, Gibson said that Johnson seemed to have not taken into consideration the fans of the franchise who have been "rocking" with them and always looking forward to the next film of their tribe for 16 years. According to him, pushing the release date back only happened once in the franchise, and that was when Paul Walker died.

"So what's the reason we're pushing the release date back now? I've just got a problem with Dwayne... it appears that he's being selfish. It appears he's so focused on furthering his own self-interests that he's making decisions from the seat that he's sitting in. 'Fast and Furious 9' isn't coming out until 2020. It's f****d up," said Gibson.
"Fast and Furious 9" was first announced back in April, shortly after the eighth installment, "Fate of the Furious," hit theaters. The next film in the franchise is expected to bring together Johnson's Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham's Deckard Shaw, and it was initially slated for a July 26, 2019 release before it was moved to April 10, 2020.
Johnson has yet to respond to Gibson's recent comments, but a few days ago, he released a video of himself working out saying, "Big dogs eat, little crying puppies stay on the porch." Fans were quick to speculate that it was the actor's subtle jab at Gibson.
