FC Augsburg are a German group that represents Group L of the competition. They finished second in the group and are behind Spanish squad Athletic Club.
They did not have a great performance in the group stage as they won three and lost three, but they certainly did enough to move on.
Augsburg were given a tough ride by Partizan as both teams finished with similar records and the same number of points, but Augsburg squeezed through as they had a better goal difference.
Now they are hoping to do even better in the knockout stages and playing at home, they should have a slight advantage over their English rivals.
On the other hand, Liverpool won Group B when they were grouped with Sion, Rubin Kazan and Bordeaux.
Many believed that Liverpool were favourites in the group before the competition started and despite winning the group, many were relatively disappointed in how they moved on.
They were unbeaten but only won two of their six games and settled for draws in the other four.
As a result, they only won by a single point over Sion in a group that turned out to be the most competitive in the bunch.
However, Liverpool are known to try and grind their way through games and they will certainly have to do that again especially when they play away from home for the first leg.
