Feng Fei Fei Death Kept Hidden for Fear it Would Cause Bad Luck
A famed Taiwanese singer and television personality, asked lawyers to keep the news of her death a secret because she feared it would cause others bad luck.
Feng Fei Fei passed away on January 3 after suffering a long battle with lung cancer. Her passing was then kept secret until this week because the singer feared that her death would interfere with the Chinese New Year.
The Chinese New Year is considered one of the most important traditional Chinese holidays. Popular themes of the holiday are a celebration of good fortune, happiness, wealth, and longevity.
The 60-year-old singer kept the news of her death a secret from even her mother and brother, who found out about her passing after it occurred.
Feng had been fighting a lasting battle with lung cancer. According to TVBS, Feng had planned to organize a concert tour and was later forced to cancel due to her health.
It was not apparent that the singer announced that she had cancer at that time. Asia One reported that Feng first believed the issue with her throat to be calluses. It was only found out later that she had stage four-lung cancer.
Feng appeared to handle the news of her coming death well. "I've led a happy and interesting life. Thank you, my brothers and sisters, for the exciting moments I've experienced," she said in a statement. "For the songs I've yet to sing, I will sing to you in my next life." Feng passed away in a Hong Kong hospital.
Her final resting place however is in Taiwan, her place of birth, along side her husband who also died of lung cancer in 2009.
