Fergie and Josh Duhamel Split News: Singer Reveals That Things Became Awkward With Estranged Husband

Fergie and Josh Duhamel have gone their separate ways for good, and the music artist reveals that things just became awkward between them.

While promoting her upcoming album, "Double Dutchess," Fergie shared with PEOPLE that it became awkward with her and Duhamel whenever they would get asked romantic questions about their relationship.

"We're great friends, we love each other so much, and it just got to the point where it was getting a little weird," explained Fergie.

She added that they realized that "there's no perfect time" to announce their separation, so they just went ahead and did it. Fergie didn't confirm whether they chose to announce their split now so she can focus on her upcoming album but stressed that the weirdness was one of the factors to it.

But even though Fergie and Duhamel have broken off their marriage, the two are closely working together to co-parent their son, Axl.

"We just wanted to get adjusted in private. [And Axl's school has helped as] we have a co-op so Josh and I would walk there several times before the school season," Fergie shared about co-parenting with Duhamel.

Meanwhile, sources tell E! News that the couple has been living separate lives for a while now.

One insider said that the "Transformers" star and his wife "completely grew apart," and that they dedicated this past year to sort all their issues out.

Another source tells the publication that the couple's "completely different lifestyles" is the main reason why Fergie and Duhamel ended up breaking their marriage.

"They have always had very separate lives and not a lot in common... There wasn't a lot of overlap in priorities," said the source. An example of their differences is how Duhamel wanted to live a life out of the public eye, while Fergie wanted to continue building her career.
