Fergie and Prince Andrew Reuniting? Friends Say They Plan to Marry
Are Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson reuniting? New sources have said that the couple remained friends even 17 years after their divorce and could be reconciling and even talking about remarrying.
The royal couple divorced in 1996, after scandalous photos of Sarah "Fergie" Ferguson surfaced. The two did not recover from that, and divorced not long after. Andrew and Fergie have remained close as friends ever since, co-parenting their daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie. The four family members went on holiday at the Queen's Scottish Highlands retreat.
"There was no reason for Andrew and I to get divorced; there wasn't another person in our lives to go to," Fergie said in a 1999 interview. "We got divorced because I had to go out to work, and Andrew and I believed that it wasn't right for me to be commercial while I was still in the Royal Family."
"Do we have to be married?" Andrew joked just 10 years later. "Well, let's put it another way, I can neither confirm nor deny the possibility. We have two great children. We still look after them."
Even though Fergie allegedly "sold" time with Andrew for much-needed cash, it did nothing to damage their relationship. Andrew regularly helps his ex-wife with financial needs and provides support for their two daughters as well. If they should reunite, it would be a royal first, given that the relationship between Charles and Diana ended in heartache and later, Diana died without reconciling with him.
"It wouldn't surprise me at all," one friend told the Daily Mail about the couple remarrying. "They are a wonderful couple together and, better still, pretty amazing parents."
"Mark my words," another friend said, "they will remarry. It is only a matter of time."
However, a representative for Fergie blatantly denied that she was getting back together with Andrew.
"They continue to be joint parents and best friends and try to set the best example for the girls," the spokesman explained.
