'Feud' Season 2: Casting Underway for Royal Season
The first season of FX's "Feud," which focuses on Bette Davis and Joan Crawford's infamous conflict, is not even halfway done yet and a second season is already in development. Creator Ryan Murphy has revealed that casting is underway.
As previously reported, "Feud" season 2 will feature the iconic royal relationship of Prince Charles and Princess Diana. The big reveal was made prior to the premiere of season 1. Apart from their relationship, the next cycle will also explore themes of power and media scrutiny. Murphy revealed that the decision was made because he did not want to tell another Hollywood feud with two women at the forefront.
"I don't think you can top Bette [Davis] and Joan [Crawford]," he said in a previous interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
While speaking to Entertainment Weekly recently, Murphy revealed that pre-production is already ongoing for the second season of "Feud." And understandably, a lot of actors and actresses have expressed their interest in the parts.
"Whoever plays those parts, it's a big role, but we're approaching those people with love and understanding and kindness," Murphy said, according to EW. "A lot of people want to do it."
He also shared that the most interesting part about telling this story is the way Prince Charles and Princess Diana are perceived. "She was an ordinary person put in an extraordinary circumstance. I admire her a great deal. I also think Charles is interesting too," he said.
However, Murphy did not reveal any names, which means fans will have to wait until announcements are made. In the meantime, they can look forward to more of Susan Sarandon and Jessica Lange's highly praised performances as Bette and Joan, respectively. They can also expect to see more of Catherine Zeta-Jones' Olivia de Havilland, who will be more than just a talking head when episode 5 rolls around.
"Feud" season 1 airs Sundays at 10 p.m. EDT on FX.
