'Feud' Season 2 Plot News, Air Date: Next Cycle to Focus on Prince Charles and Princess Diana

"Feud" season 1 has not even premiered yet and FX has already jumped the gun on a second season renewal. It has been revealed that the next cycle of the anthology series will revolve around Prince Charles and Princess Diana's tumultuous relationship.

FX has ordered a 10-episode second season from the Ryan Murphy series. It is no secret that Murphy and the network have a long-standing relationship, resulting in numerous television series like "Nip/Tuck," "American Horror Story" and "American Crime Story." "Feud" is only the latest in a series of anthology projects.

It does not come as a surprise that FX would have so much confidence in Murphy's brainchild. After all, the first season of "American Crime Story," which focused on O.J. Simpson's trial, was met with critical and commercial success. It even took home nine Emmy Awards and two Golden Globes.

The first season of "Feud," which is set to premiere on Sunday, March 5, focuses on the rivalry between Bette Davis and Joan Crawford. Subtitled "Bette and Joan," the titular characters are portrayed by Susan Sarandon and Jessica Lange, respectively.

Season 2 will explore the topics of power and media scrutiny, among other things, as it features Prince Charles and Princess Diana's relationship. Because of the subject matter, the next season will likely be set in England. Murphy previously revealed his plans for a second season while speaking to The Hollywood Reporter.

"I don't want to do another woman-to-woman feud, and I certainly would never do another Hollywood feud because I don't think you can top Bette [Davis] and Joan [Crawford]," he said. "I'm interested in this show being a two-hander that's really about the human dilemma of pain and misunderstanding. And I think you need a long period of time, maybe 20 to 40 years, to have a big backstory."

Unlike the second season, "Feud: Bette and Joan" only consists of eight episodes. It will premiere on Sunday, March 5, 10 p.m. EST on FX.
