Fifth Harmony talks about how to succeed in the music industry

The hit girl group Fifth Harmony recently spoke to Cosmo about their backgrounds, addressing their take on female empowerment.

The girl band Fifth Harmony found its fame after joining X-Factor, much like One Direction. The group was asked about the best advice it has received about succeeding in the industry. The girls' answers resonated with the idea of staying true to oneself. One of the girls, Lauren Jauregui, said that Simon Cowell had shared sound advice that has helped the girls succeed in the industry. Lauren said, "Be who you are and don't allow other people to tell you who you're supposed to be." That's something we constantly have to fight against. People try to change and make us into a certain image they want, or try to give us songs that don't agree with our image or who we are. Authenticity will translate best to our audience."

Ally Brooke also mentioned that as an artist, they have to fight for what they believe in and be vocal about their vision. Being able to do that has helped the ground become closer and stronger. Camila Cabello also said that it is important to remain present and keep a clear head when aiming to survive in the industry.

She stated, "It's really important to separate the hype around you, and who you are on stage. When you're in a meeting, you can stick up for what you want but also have to be kind to everyone around you, whether it's the head of your label or the man cleaning the venue. When you die, all that's going to be left is the mark you left on people, not the platinum singles."

The girls have also received some criticism on their appearance, specifically the way they dress. They addressed this issue by stating that while they do dress according to their body types and styles, there is nothing wrong with women embracing their sexuality.
