'Fifty Shades Darker' Movie News: Movie Adds Hugh Dancy to Play Christian Grey's Psychiatrist

The sequel to the 2015 hit "Fifty Shades of Grey" will showcase Hugh Dancy's acting chops as he has been included in the cast of "Fifty Shades Darker."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dancy will play the role of the Dr. John Flynn, a psychiatrist that Grey starts seeing after the reappearance of his former lover, Mrs. Elena "Robinson" Lincoln, who is breathed to life by Kim Basinger.

Apart from Dancy, "Fifty Shades Darker" will also feature the return of Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson to reprise their respective roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. Both have inked a deal to continue their roles until the film's third installment, "Fifty Shades Freed."

According to the description of the "Fifty Shades Darker" novel, Anastasia Steele breaks up with Christian Grey as she is daunted by his singular tastes and dark secrets. However, despite her new career in a Seattle publishing house, she still finds herself thinking of Christian Grey.

"… But desire for Christian still dominates her every waking thought, and when he proposes a new arrangement, Anastasia cannot resist. They rekindle their searing sensual affair, and Anastasia learns more about the harrowing past of her damaged, driven and demanding Fifty Shades. While Christian wrestles with his inner demons, Anastasia must confront the anger and envy of the women who came before her, and make the most important decision of her life," continues the official description of the novel.

Other cast members of "Fifty Shades Darker" include Eric Johnson, Bella Heathcote, Luke Grimes, Eloise Mumford, Max Martini, Tyler Hoechlin, Rita Ora, Marcia Gay Harden, Robin Lee and Fay Masterson James Foley is helming the movie, including its follow up "Fifty Shades Freed."

"Fifty Shades of Grey" is an erotic romance film based on the novel of the same title. It grossed almost $600 million during its run in 2015.

Meanwhile, its sequel, "Fifty Shades Darker," is slated for a February 2017 release.
