Fifty Shades of Grey 2 Cast News, Rumors: Jamie Dornan Denies He is Leaving for Sequel

Jamie Dornan, the actor who plays Christian Grey in the box office hit "Fifty Shades of Grey," denied rumors that he is no longer reprising his role in any upcoming sequel of the movie. He issued an official statement a day after initial reports came out.

In his statement made through his representative to ABC News, he said that he "is delighted that the film is breaking box office records worldwide and whilst the studio has not made any formal announcements about sequels, he is looking forward to making the next film."

Rumors about his decision came out on Feb. 24, 2015, with some stating that the reason behind the decision was the fact that his wife, Amelia Warner, was "uncomfortable with the sex scenes." According to some reports, he even said that it was doubtful that his wife will ever watch the movie.

Both Dornan and his co-star Dakota Johnson, who plays Anastasia Steele, are reportedly contracted by Universal Studios to star in any sequels. Universal has yet to officially confirm that they are in fact making a sequel or two.

"Fifty Shades of Grey" is based on E.L. James 2011 erotic romance novel of the same title. There are two more volumes of the novel series, titled "Fifty Shades Darker" and "Fifty Shades Freed." The novels were originally published as e-books, but because of its popularity, Vintage Books acquired publishing rights in 2012.

The first film was directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson. Reports were also circulating recently that she was no longer directing the sequels because of "constant on-set feuds with author E.L. James" about sex scenes in the movie which the author supposedly wanted to be as explicit as the book.

The movie is considered a box office success, earning about $400 million worldwide after its release two weeks ago. Reception of the film has been mixed, with critics saying that its box office success may just be because of hype and curiosity, which may not last after the first movie.
