'Final Fantasy 15' DLC Expansion Focused on Ardyn in the Works
Square Enix has a lot planned for "Final Fantasy 15" when it comes to downloadable content (DLC) support. Game director Hajime Tabata revealed some of those in an interview with Game Legends for Let's Play 2017.
During the chat, he revealed that he and his team are interested in exploring the past of the game's main antagonist, Ardyn. In fact, they are looking to dedicate a DLC just for that.
When asked about delving into the "Final Fantasy 15" baddie's story, he said, "Yes, we do plan on doing something like that so you're going to have to look forward on seeing that."
He also talked about the type of gameplay in upcoming DLCs. Tabata said that much like the recently released Episode Gladiolus, which allows players to take control of the titular character, upcoming expansions will work the same way.
"All the future DLCs will very much have new gameplay elements added to them fitting with the individual themes of each piece of DLC," Tabata explained.
This means that Square Enix is looking to give the full experience the playable character central to the "Final Fantasy 15" DLC has to offer.
As for the long-awaited co-op feature for the game, Tabata said that his team is hard at work in putting it together. They also intend to get the help of fans in making sure it is up to snuff.
"Before we introduce the full official servers where players can play with each other, I think we're going to be doing a beta test first," he revealed.
As fans wait for all this, they can first focus on the "Final Fantasy 15" DLC, Episode Gladiolus, the first DLC for the title released just a couple of days ago.
The expansion is getting mixed reviews though. The Verge says the DLC "isn't very fun" while Kotaku went so far as to say that it is "short and pointless."
