Final Fantasy 15 – What We Know So Far About XV's Game Length, Battle System and Story
Director Hajime Tabata reveals more information about the long awaited installment
The next installment in the long running RPG franchise "Final Fantasy" is fast arriving and there has been a slew of new information about the game thanks to the Square Enix panel at E3.
During this panel "Final Fantasy XV's" director Hajime Tabata answered several questions about the game which cleared up many mysteries.
Game Length
According to Tabata the main story of the game will take roughly 40 to 50 hours of game time to complete. Comparing that time to today's standards that's quite a lengthy game.
When asked about the lengthy game time Tabata responded by saying "A lot of fans have been waiting quite a while for this game, so we wanted to make sure that there's a lot of content for them to enjoy."
Tabata also confirmed that there are also many side quests and secrets to complete as well and the game could go up to 200 hours of total game time to complete at 100%.
Battle System
The battle system of "Final Fantasy XV" is being called the Active Cross Battle System. This system is similar to the "Kingdom Hearts" series as well as "Final Fantasy Type-0."
The Active Cross Battle System differs from the traditional menu type active battle system common in most games of the series in that there will only be one controllable character throughout the game. In the case of "FF XV" it will be the main character of Noctis.
To control Noctis the player will be able to map certain buttons to actions as needed by the player during battle such as auto attack, magic, techniques and items. Players will also give the other team members actions to be called on by Noctis as well as actions to be used depending on the set up and situation.
Story
The basic story for the game is that two rival countries Lucis and Niflhiem are to finally end their long standing feud with a peace treaty. As part of the treaty the game's protagonist Noctis is to wed Lady Lunafreya.
However Noctis is not ready to be wed and leaves on the day the treaty is to be signed as well as his wedding. Niflhiem sees this as a sign of war and consequences of his actions on that day ensue.
The story follows Noctis as he tries to rectify his actions and bring peace back between the two nations.
Release date for "Final Fantasy XV" is slated for September 30, 2016 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
