Final Fantasy 6 Android Release Date Coming Soon, FF7 to Follow Shortly After
The Final Fantasy 6 Android release date is coming sometime this winter.
Square Enix's Takashi Tokita recently confirmed the game's imminent launch to the Japanese site Kotaku. The mobile version of Final Fantasy 6 will be in 2D, making it different from the versions of FF 3 and FF 4 that also came to the Android platform in recent years.
Despite not making the jump to 3D, the game is still expected to feature superior graphics to the original SNES version that was released in the early 1990s. The battles will also be re-balanced making them less tedious.

Tokita also commented on the possibility of Final Fantasy 7, a title which is arguably the most popular out of the series, arriving on Android.
"We are aware that we have tons of VII fans," said Tokita. "We have VII fans in our own company. If [Final Fantasy VI] works out well, we would like to one day be able to work with VII."
This is not exactly a confirmation, but it is safe to say that the mobile version of FF6 will become a favorite for gamers and Android users, making FF7 a no brainer for future releases.
Gamers in the U.S. received the sixth installment of the RPG series through the SNES console in 1994. However, the game was re-titled Final Fantasy 3 in order to keep with the sequence of the series in the U.S. as not every version was ported from Japan. The original 2 and 3 did not make it to the states until they were re-designed for the Nintendo DS in the early to mid 2000s.
Final Fantasy 6 was eventually re-released under its real name for the original PlayStation console as part of the Final Fantasy Anthology collection in 1999.
