'Final Fantasy 7 Remake': Encountering Enemies and Exploring Dungeons Will Likely Be Very Different

Players can opt to be careful when exploring inside the 'Final Fantasy 7 Remake' or just charge into battles

Random encounters were memorable parts of the original "Final Fantasy 7" game as they added to the challenge of making it through different dungeons and even just the world map. However, in the "Final Fantasy 7 Remake," players may find that enemy encounters don't work exactly like they used to.

Speaking previously to Famitsu, director Tetsuya Nomura talked about some of the new features that will be included in the remake.

Gematsu provided a translation of that interview, and in it, Nomura revealed some interesting things about enemy encounters.

As Nomura mentioned, since the remake is more "seamless" and players can see the paths laid out in front of them, it may not make as much sense for them to just wander around aimlessly and expect that doing so will still work.

This is why, as Nomura noted, it may be necessary for players to seek cover in order to either avoid enemies or at least gain a bit of an advantage over them ahead of a fight.

The way Nomura describes exploring certain areas inside the "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" game and even how players can opt to whether or not interact with enemies seems to hint that a significant change may be coming.

Specifically, those new mechanics could be hinting that the random encounters that were prominently featured in the original may no longer be included in the remake, or at the very least, they may be limited this time around.

Potentially doing away with random encounters or even just having them take place less frequently would certainly help make exploring easier. Players who were previously frustrated by how certain areas could feature seemingly higher encounter rates may be pleased by this possible change as well.

Getting rid of random encounters would also represent another significant way in which the remake would differ from the original, with developers already previously confirming that the turn-based combat system will be replaced by a more action-oriented one.

More news about the "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" should be made available soon.
