'Final Fantasy XV' 1.07 Patch News: Will Buffed Arcana Spells Kill Adamantoise in One Hit?
Square Enix's latest action role-playing game (RPG) "Final Fantasy XV" has been released for months already, and the developers are still hard at work in enriching the experience for fans of the franchise. With its latest update, it brings new elements to both the story and gameplay.
In the March update trailer, the hated Chapter 13 of the story gets a revamp, in which players get to take on Gladiolus' role as he travels through the Zegnautus Keep with Ignis in search of Noctis and the Crystal. Aside from their viewpoint, new cutscenes are also added, revolving around the Niflheim emperor and Ravus, Lunafreya's brother.
Perhaps the more explosive update was how the developers buffed the arcana spells from the Ring of Lucii. Everyone gasped at the last scene in which Noctis used Alterna against the infamous Adamantoise, a creature with a ridiculous amount of HP, which made everyone wonder — can it be sent to the void?
This video shows that it can be done, though could be challenging. The theory is that the Adamantoise needs to be within the "sphere" the spell is casting, or else it will be broken and can end up in a miss. Nonetheless, it's a matter of hit-or-miss, though quite faster than hacking and slashing with daggers and armigers.
Given the fact that the Adamantoise is the largest enemy in "Final Fantasy XV," this means it can also be used against smaller foes like Ma-X Angelus 0. The said enemy drops Magitek Suit V2, one of the best accessories in the game.
While the enhanced power of the ring is a great update, player reception has been divided. There are those who say it became too overpowered to the point players may just resort to spamming Alterna, while others say one can simply decide not to use it and challenge themselves with normal combat. Either way, the choice on how to defeat the game is still up to the players, giving more options.
In addition to the story expansion and ring buff, the chocobos can now travel through never-before traversed terrains, such as the overarching stone formations near Duscae. This allows further exploration into unreachable places on the map.
