'Finding Nemo 2' Release Date: 'Finding Dory' Summer 2016 Premiere and Other Details
The sequel to the popular 2003 Disney fish story, "Finding Nemo" is closer to hitting theaters as Pixar announced the release date of "Finding Dory" for next summer.
In 2003, "Finding Nemo" sent the nervous clown fish, Marlin out into the big ocean to rescue his rebellious runaway son, Nemo. On June 2016, Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Pictures are releasing the sequel, "Finding Dory," 12 years after the original.
This time around, the new movie focuses on Dory, the memory-impaired blue tang fish who helped Marlin find his son in the previous film. Reprising her role as the forgetful fish, top-rated talk show maven, Ellen DeGeneres signed on for the sequel as early as August 2012, and will provide her voice for the second installment in the franchise.

Fans of the original movie are said to be looking forward to new jokes and concepts that DeGeneres may have had a hand in contributing to "Finding Dory." Joining her in the cast of voiced characters include Willem Dafoe, Albert Brooks, Idris Elba, Ty Burrell, and Dominic West.
The talk show host has been hinting about the upcoming sequel on her show for the last couple of years.
"I have waited for this day for a long, long, long, long, long time," DeGeneres said. "I'm not mad it took this long. I know the people at Pixar were busy creating 'Toy Story 16.'"
DeGeneres, who's hosted "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" since 2003, said the sequel is worth the wait. The second movie's script is reported to be outstandingly written, and DeGeneres says the movie is funny and has "got a lot of heart." More importantly, it will focus mainly on Dory, who provided most of the comic relief in the previous movie.
Brooks returns as the voice of Marlin, however rumors have surfaced Marlin will not be present for the duration of the entire sequel. The first film's original director, Andrew Stanton will also be returning to helm "Finding Dory."
