'First Man' Release Date, Cast News: Upcoming Movie Enlists 'American Gods' Star as Jim Lovell
The upcoming biopic "First Man" finally found the actor to portray Jim Lovell, and that is no less than "American Gods" star Pablo Schreiber.
"First Man" is an upcoming movie based on the biographical book "First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong" written by James R. Hansen.
According to reports, Schreiber was chosen for the role by Damien Chazelle who will sit as the upcoming movie's director. The actor is also famous for his role in the movie "13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi," which was based on true events.

Meanwhile, his guest role in Netflix's "Orange Is the New Black" has also earned him a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for the category Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series.
Schreiber's role in "First Man," Lovell, is another famous American astronaut who led the Apollo 13 mission. Unfortunately, Lovell and his team's attempt to land on the moon went awry and even endangered his life.
Luckily, the crew and the mission control staff of NASA was able to lead the ship back to Earth safely. Lovell is also famously known as one of the 24 astronauts who attempted to fly to the moon and one of the three who went on that mission twice.
It was previously confirmed that Chazelle and actor Ryan Gosling will reunite for the movie. Gosling was chosen to portray Armstrong.
Chazelle and Gosling worked together in the award-winning film "La La Land" where Gosling bagged multiple Best Actor recognitions from major award-giving bodies. The duo was enlisted to work on the "First Man" film adaptation after "La La Land" premiered in theaters.
Hansen received extra credit for being the first author to convince Armstrong to let him write a biographical account which led to his 2005-published book. However, it took Hansen several attempts to get the famed astronaut's approval.
It has yet to be confirmed when the cast and crew of "First Man" will start filming. The film is expected to premiere in U.S. movie theaters on Oct. 12, 2018.
