Fitbit Charge 2 vs. Fitbit Alta Specs Review: Alta Wins in Customization, Charge 2 Better at Tracking

Tracking daily activities that are aimed towards a healthy lifestyle becomes much easier with the Fitbit - a handy watch that does not just monitor a person's movement and heart rate, but also works as an alarm and organizer with its calendar as well as its calls and text messaging alert services.

Currently, the Fitbit is  being offered in several different tracker wristbands: the Fitbit One, Zip, Blaze, Surge, Alta, Alta HR and Charge 2.

The Fitbit Charge 2 and Fitbit Alta are usually compared with each other because of their similar characteristics. There's also very little difference in the two gadgets' pricing.

Many users would tend to choose the Fitbit type that has the right features and price range for them, but other factors should be considered as well, such as battery life and the style and design of the device.

The Fitbit line does not come cheap, but it does not come with an outrageous price tag either. The Fitbit Alta, which costs $130, seems to be the perfect choice for people who need the essential trackers that are usually offered by Fitbit but without the hefty price tag.

The Fitbit Charge 2, however, is priced at $150, which seems to be justified because of its additional tracking features such as a cardio fitness level, guided breathing sessions, a heart rate monitor, and multi-sport tracking features that the Fitbit Alta lacks.

Both devices are capable of SmartTrack auto exercise recognition, move reminders, all-day activity tracking, auto-sleep tracking, clock and alarm, calendar, text and call alerts, and most of all, a five-day battery life.

When it comes to customization, however, the Fitbit Alta is more flexible as it has partnered with top-of-the-line designer names such as Tory Burch and Vera Wang for its customized line of wristbands.

For users who are more focused on fitness and active lifestyle tracking, the Fitbit Charge 2 is obviously the better option with its more activity-specific trackers that can monitor a range of movements pretty well.

Like the Apple Watch, the Fitbit Charge 2 requires a connected smartphone, but the good news is, it is compatible with both iPhones and Android phones.
