'Fixer Upper' Chip and Joanna Gaines: Spin-Off to Focus on Joanna's Design Process
HGTV stars Chip and Joanna Gaines are set to have a new series titled "Behind the Design." The network has recently confirmed that the new "Fixer Upper" spin-off series is well on its way and will mainly focus on the design process of Joanna.
Earlier this week, Joanna posted a video on Instagram which teases fans about the upcoming series. "We have a lot of questions about the designs and what goes on on 'Fixer Upper' and how we get from point A to Z when it comes to these houses and these projects from a design standpoint," she said. According to her, the upcoming spin-off series will give fans the inside scoop on how she and Chip come up with certain decisions and design elements on the show.
HGTV's announcement did not come as a surprise to many, considering how the show outranks even the CNN network when it comes to viewership. Since its debut, "Fixer Upper" has been able to draw more than 20 million views and the figures continue to rise this fourth season, according to Nielsen ratings.
"Fixer Upper: Behind the Design" will star Joanna, who has been one of the major reasons for the show's high ratings. Her knack for coming up with country-chic designs makes it possible for the show to offer jaw-dropping reveals, so HGTV has all the reasons to take her on board. Lately, the reality star has been busy with her new children's furniture line, paint line and paint-chalk collection.
Each episode of the new show will reportedly run for 30 minutes and will feature Chip and Joanna's innovative decorating strategies and aesthetic preferences.
The fifth installment of the show will premiere in late 2017. However, a sneak peek of the upcoming spin-off series will be shown on HGTV on Tuesday, March 28 at 11 p.m. EDT.
