'Fixer Upper' Star Chip Gaines Cuts His Long Hair to Raise Funds

Real estate guru Chip Gaines seems to have a big heart for helping, even if it means drastically changing the way he looks.

Gaines, who has been teased by some of his fans for his long hair, took to Instagram to make the announcement.

"Alright, fine. I'll cut my hair. But first.. it's time to put your money where your mouth is," wrote Gaines on an Instagram post last Wednesday. "Interested? I'll be back to tell you more tomorrow. #OperationHaircut," he added to the post.

By Thursday, Gaines posted the mechanics on Instagram with a photo of him looking terrified as his hair is about to be cut. "It's come to my attention that most of you hate my current hairstyle. But how MUCH do you hate it? Now's the time to put your money where your mouth is," wrote Gaines.

He said that he and his wife, Joanna, will be coming over to Target House to visit "the beautiful kids" with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis. "No family ever pays @StJude for treatment, travel or food—so basically, we want to bring them a giant check from YOU to help cover costs—lets come together to do something big to bless these kiddos," he went on to say.

He then pointed to a link on his Instagram profile where fans can donate money. In addition, he said that the more money they are able to raise over the next four days, the shorter his hair will be. "That's a promise. And, who knows, maybe if you really exceed my expectations...I'll buzz it all off," Gaines added.

Earlier this week, the Gaines trooped to Houston, Texas to help rebuild homes that were ravaged by the Hurricane Harvey back in August. USA Today reported that the couple arrived in the city last Sunday before going to the home of 81-year-old Doris Davis whose house was damaged by two-feet-high water during the height of the hurricane.
