'Flip or Flop' Divorce News: Tarek El Moussa Shared How Work, Cancer and Fame Pushed Him and Christina Apart

HGTV star Tarek El Moussa shared his side on what caused his divorce from Christina El Moussa. In an interview on "The Doctors" show, the real estate celebrity looks back on what caused their seven-year marriage to fall apart.

In an interview scheduled to air today, Monday, March 6, "The Doctors" hosts had a chat with Tarek on the possible issues that led to the former couple's marital troubles and subsequent divorce. The 35-year-old divorced parent of two blamed their overnight rise to fame, inadequate communication and the cancer that ailed him in the middle of all that was going on. Us Magazine has an in-depth feature about Tarek's side of things as the couple's rift grew wider and wider.

Tarek admits that they, as a couple, could have worked things out better. "I feel like if we had better communication, we would have had a better relationship," he told the "The Doctor" regulars. Like any typical marriage, time management has also been an area that the couple fell short on, Tarek shared. "I think as time went on, you get busier and busier — and, you know, it was overnight. Businesses, TV, all these things happened at once," said Tarek.

The HGTV couple went through a lot health-wise, too, with the already busy pair shocked by Tarek's thyroid and testicular cancer diagnosis. At the same time, the in-demand couple is also hard at work with having their second child through in vitro fertilization. Tarek summed it up neatly: "We were both very busy people with health issues and kids. We didn't fight, we just grew apart," he said, as quoted by the Huffington Post.

The ex-couple are now sharing custody of their daughter Taylor, six-years old, and baby boy Brayden, 18-months old. While divorced, Tarek and Christina say they will continue being there for their children and working together on "Flip or Flop."
