Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl Reveals Justin Timberlake Is Band's Mystery Guest Collaborator
Foo Fighters lead singer Dave Grohl revealed the identity of the mystery collaborator in the band's upcoming album "Concrete and Gold."
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Grohl announced that pop star Justin Timberlake agreed to collaborate with the band on a new record after hanging out several times while they were resting in between the recording sessions for their separate albums at the EastWest studios in Los Angeles.
"We'd drink whiskey in the parking lot," Grohl stated. "He was really, really cool. Then the night before his last day, he says, 'Can I sing on your record? I don't want to push it, but – I just want to be able to tell my friends.'"
The band's lead vocalist first talked about the collaboration back in June during an interview with BBC's Radio 1, saying that a major pop star sang the backup part on one of the heaviest songs in their upcoming rock album.
He also added in a separate interview with the Rolling Stone that he will be surprised if anyone will figure out the identity of their guest collaborator.
"But it was great and this person's been around a long time. And I think I've met this person maybe a few times, but I'd never spent time with this person, and we had a blast together. Really f***ng fun. And [he or she is] very talented – more so than I ever knew. But, of course, I f***ing ran my mouth off; now I have to answer to it every time I pick up the telephone and I'm like, 'F***! I shouldn't have said anything,'" he also said.
Aside from Timberlake, reports revealed that legendary rock icon Paul McCartney will also lend his vocal talent and his expertise in playing drums in one of the band's new albums. The Kills' Alison Mosshart and Shawn Stockman from Boyz II Men will also be part of the album.
