'Food Wars! The Third Plate' Episode 2 Spoilers: Can Soma Hold His Own in Upcoming Spicy Chinese Cuisine Battle?
Having a strong rival often works like a double-edged sword: on the one hand, it inspires the hero to defy his own limitations; but on the other, it can also lead him to take some really drastic moves without weighing the consequences first.
Such is the fate of series protagonist, Soma Yukihira, as he goes against Kuga Terunori on the Japanese anime series, "Shokugeki no Soma: San no Sara (Food Wars! The Third Plate)," the third season of the anime adaptation of Shun Saeki's popular manga series.
When the Elite Ten Council laughed off the Shokugeki challenge that Soma has extended to them, the Elite member holding the Eight Seat, Kuga, issued a counter-challenge to the competitive upstart; that is, for Soma to show off some cooking skill that far outshines Kuga's. And what better way to do this than to put up his own booth at the upcoming Moon Festival and try to steal customers from Kuga's Chinese cuisines booth.
All seems well and good, and Soma was already feeling confident, especially with legendary food genius Erina Nakiri by his side. However, it was also Erina who reveals to him that should his booth fail to raise money, he would be expelled as a consequence.
Will Soma's current level of culinary expertise be enough to put his plan into action and actually succeed in his projected goal? Or will Kuga, being a member of the Elite Ten Council, prove to be a fiercer competitor than Soma has expected?
A spicy culinary battle is about to begin, and Soma may have just found his strongest rival yet in Kuga. Can his confidence, strong will, and exceptional cooking skills be a match to an Elite Ten Council member?
