Former 'Survivor' winner Parvati Shallow visits set of 'Survivor: Cambodia – Second Chance'

"Survivor" season 16 winner Parvati Shallow went to Cambodia as a member of the press and met the "Second Chancers" in this 31st season of the hit reality game show.

Shallow endured 20 hours of flying, four hours of a bumpy ride in a van, and finally two hours of a boat ride to this season's location in Koh Rong, Cambodia. According to her post in the Hollywood Reporter, she will always love the game and its people, even if she had to travel for two days just to visit the set. "I can hardly contain my excitement," she said.

Shallow was able to interview the returning contestants at "Ponderosa," where she asked them their pre-game alliance and strategies. One thing the former survivor noticed is that the weather is treacherous. Shallow said that they experienced torrential downpours and unbearable heat during her stay at the location for one and a half weeks.

The "Survivor: Micronesia" winner said that the weather has been unforgiving, and she can only imagine what the competitors would have to go through, in order to survive nature, with almost nothing with them. "I say a silent prayer for my friends going out there to compete," she said.

After the interviews, Shallow and the rest of the press boarded a large boat to take them at the challenge location. Jeff Probst, the show's host, asked the press to test out the first challenge of this season. Shallow described the challenge as "an awesome throwback to the first season of Survivor.

Her team didn't win the challenge, but she said that she was able to grab a hidden immunity idol. One of this season's twists is that idols are now hidden in plain sight at challenges. Shallow said this will complicate the game a lot since players will now have to decide where to grab the idol while others are looking, or play it safe and just let the opportunity pass.

The members of the press were then invited to witness the filming of the show's premiere. According to Shallow, Probst was seen on a deck of a pirate ship that is filled with supplies — cooking utensils, pots, bananas, chickens, coconuts. The returning players, who were now divided into two tribes, were given mere moments to gather as many supplies as they can (Hunger Games-style) from the ship, before heading to another boat that has a huge bag of rice.

Watching as the scenes unfold, Shallow guarantee that Survivor fans will definitely have a lot of fun this season.

"Survivor: Cambodia – Second Chance" will air on CBS this Sept. 23.
