Fossil Q Founder Smartwatch in Google Store Priced $295

Regular watches out, smartwatches in. Fossil has joined in the bandwagon of creating watches that can double as a gadget. According to Engadget, the American designer and manufacturer of watches has released their first official Android Wear smartwatch dubbed as the Q Founder.

Fossil's Q Founder smartwatch is currently available for purchase on Google Store with a starting price of $275. This price is for the version having the leather strap but as reported by Ubergizmo, the leather strap is not available yet. What's available in Google Store is the metal band which will cost an additional $20, leading to a total of $295. Apart from the straps, both variants are just the same.

With its simple but elegant look, users can wear it even during fancy dinner parties. But behind its posh exterior is a touchscreen functionality that is impressive in its own way. The Next Digit detailed that its specs include a 1.5-inch OLED circle-shaped display that can deliver a resolution of 360 X 326. Its pixel density count is 240 ppi. The watch is powered with an Intel Atom processor paired with 1 GB of RAM and 4 GB of storage.

It also comes with a 400mAh battery and runs with none other than Google's Android Wear operating system. It is packed with Bluetooth 4.1 LE, Wi-Fi and is even water-resistant with an IP67 certification. The strap can be interchangeable with any 22mm bands.

Waltonian also noted that the smartwatch is equipped with sensors including a gyroscope, accelerometer and ambient light. However, unlike other smartwatch models, the Fossil Q Founder does not have a heart rate monitor, which means those who are into fitness and running will most likely not choose this one. It's also said to have the same problem as the original Moto 360 so that it has a "flat tire" blank spot at the bottom of the display.

Nonetheless, as one of the most popular fashion watch brands in the world, Fossil is still likely to be a winner in the sales of this smartwatch.
