'Frozen 2' News, Update: Josh Gad Is Back in the Studio for Sequel
It looks like voice recording for "Frozen 2" has finally begun.
Josh Gad, who will reprise his role as the heart-melting snowman, Olaf, recently confirmed on Instagram that he is indeed back in the studio to work on the long-awaited sequel.
He gave a shoutout to the incredible team for "Frozen 2" for putting together "a story that carries on the incredible legacy of the original Frozen and continues to build and expand on the characters and themes in new and exciting ways."
On Twitter, he had this to say:
It's such a joy [to] back in the booth after this journey began 5 long years ago. The creative team has come up with a story worth the wait.
While he cannot reveal much about the film, he praised the team behind the project, which includes directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, producer Peter Del Vecho, musical composers Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Bobby Lopez, Pixar Animation Studios chief creative officer John Lasseter and the "amazing people at Disney Animation."
What Gad leaves fans with is that "Frozen 2" is indeed on the way and that it is going to be "special," which is something that fans of the 2013 original, which went on to become the highest-grossing animated film of all time, are definitely hoping for.
With the success the first movie attained, it will be a real challenge to follow it up especially after the characters and the soundtrack (years after the release of "Frozen," the song "Let It Go" remains in the minds of many) became instant classic.
Fans have been waiting for concrete updates about the development of "Frozen 2." A few weeks ago, Kristen Bell, who plays the role of the adorable Princess Anna, revealed that she too has started recording.
Last year, she said that the team is taking their time in putting the sequel together to make sure that it will be a worthy follow-up to the mega blockbuster original.
In an interview with Radio Times, the "Bad Moms" actress said:
I will say I was thrilled after reading it. They [the producers of Frozen] waited so long because they were not intent on settling, and they didn't want another quote unquote 'episode' of Frozen, where somebody gets in trouble, and somebody saves them. This is a deeper story, much like the first one.
"Frozen 2" will be released Nov. 27, 2019.
