'Frozen 2' Plot Rumors: Elsa Finally Lets Go! Queen's Personality Shift Hinted

Viewers might see a different Elsa (Idina Menzel) in "Frozen 2." The Ice Queen might finally let go of her hang-ups and be a lot happier in the highly-awaited sequel.

Elsa's personality actually shifted for the short film "Frozen Fever," which ran in theatres in 2015. That personality will apparently remain in the full-length feature arriving in 2019. Director Jennifer Lee promised a happier Elsa for "Frozen 2" while promoting "Frozen Forever."

"She had such a dramatic journey, and at the end, she's just starting to feel like she can open up and have some fun again," Lee said. "That's what was really good about the short [Frozen Fever] - we could have fun with Elsa. And that personality, you will see in the next one."

The "Frozen 2" voice actors started recording in November but Josh Gad (Olaf) stated he does not know the new movie's completed story because he does not have the full script. He revealed that this was deliberate as Disney would like to keep the movie's plot a secret. He joked that he can't keep his big mouth shut, so the studio doesn't provide the full script.

Kristen Bell (Anna), however, might have a clearer picture of what "Frozen 2" is about. Speaking with Cinema Blend, the actress confirmed that she had a sit-down with the director to figure out her approach to Anna's new storyline.

"I have read it, I have recorded it. It changes every now and again. It's very good," Bell declared. "One thing I will say, there are a couple new characters that you will fall in love with," she added.

Disney scheduled the release of "Frozen 2" on Nov. 27, 2019. In the meantime, fans of the franchise can enjoy watching the latest short film, "Olaf's Frozen Adventure," by downloading on iTunes. The film bridges the gap between the two full-length features in terms of character development and story direction.
